Jim Brown, Epic’s Lead Level Designer confirmed that Power Weapon timers will be a feature for Private matches in Gears of War 3. We believe this is major progress and a big step in the right direction and could not have accomplished this without the efforts and support from the Gears of War MLG community and the individuals involved in the Player’s Coalition.

It’s also considerably less spammy with fewer power weapons, and absolutely better with fewer grenades in play. Doubly so when you add in wall tags. And double _that_ when you add in respawning gametypes.
Lastly, I think that the G1 method may actually be better for the Hardcore experienced crowd. G2 is probably better for the wider net of more casual players.
ALL THAT SAID: Gears 3 uses the Gears 2 weapon respawn system by default, but allows you to use the Gears 1 system in private matches. This was a big discussion internally, and allowing the option in private matches was (we felt) a good concession to both sides.
The “MLG: A New Beginning” thread has now been changed to “MLG & Competitive Gears of War: Beta Preparation! How to Report Bugs.” I would really hope that the competitive community continues to rally together and work towards improving the experience on Gears of War 3 as much as possible. @Skyzyn provided an outline to follow in the event that you encounter a bug or glitch in the game which I provided below:

Beta starts next week, everyone needs to be very actively posting bugs, especially the little things that go un-noticed by the average player. Be on the lookout for bugs that popped up in Gears 1 and Gears 2, as they have a high chance of occurring during the beta. Follow the format below for reporting a bug on the Beta forum once it’s up:
