Are You F*CKING Serious Kotaku? British Scientific Nonsense

Why did I come across this on Kotaku? Who the hell did these British scientists test?  I am not saying in any way that I think Professional Gaming should be considered a sport, but testing an individual in his “mid twenties” and determining he has the lungs of a “60-year-old chain smoker” is a bit ridiculous.

The University of Essex’s Dr. Dominic Micklewright worked out several “elite cyber-sportsmen” and found that while their reaction to visual stimuli matched that of fighter pilots, their physical fitness levels were more befitting someone much older or much younger. One gamer described as having “a physique similar to an endurance athlete,” was found to have the lung function a doctor would expect to find in a 60-year-old smoker.

A 60-year-old-smoker? Really now? How about testing me – I’m 6’1, 175lbs, can run a 40 in 4.5 (guaranteed) and I haven’t been timed in four years.  Or my brother, 5-10, 160lbs who can probably run a 40 in 4.3 or 4.4 (guaranteed) and he hasn’t run in nearly two years.  Where the hell are these people coming up with this garbage?

Kotaku how about posting some information that depict a better representation of gamers? I mean seriously where the hell did University of Essex test gamers that had the lungs of a 60-year old?  That’s lame.
