Razer Possibly Creating “REAL” Tournament Arcade Stick, Calls out MadCatz

In true Razer fashion, CEO Min-Liang Tan tweeted the following a few days ago:

First and foremost, this could mean that Razer is taking the console gaming market with the intention of dominating the competition.  Tournament Arcade Fighting Sticks are something that one company has pretty much made exclusively for the fighting community. That company, as I’m sure you know, is MadCatz.  Does Razer think that MadCatz Fightstick isn’t the best thing since sliced bread?

The first bit of the initial tweet implies that there are no other “tournament” grade console controllers.  The only controllers that come to mind are…well…MadCatz.  It is no secret that MadCatz has had a less than desirable image when it comes to console controllers.  That’s not to say that MadCatz is not attempting to turn around their image.  They released that Transformer-ish R.A.T. mouse, bought out Tritton, and inked a deal with Major League Gaming to create tournament-ready Xbox 360 controllers (initially a deal set with Razer).  I bet you didn’t know that last bit of information and now the Razer Onza is here and everyone, including MadCatz, will be playing catch up.

This makes me about as giddy as a little school girl.  After years of crap from MadCatz and Nyko, console gamers are finally about to benefit from the brewing war on quality.  I feel like a little gossip man, but seriously what do you think?

There’s definitely a lot of truth behind that…hopefully they take the chance and enter more products for console gamers.

If they are making one I look forward to seeing their approach to it.

I would definitely be interested in seeing how they would improve upon the Fight Sticks. If that’s possible.
